Binary began his career in 2005 with a residency at Marvel bar in Long street CPT, exploring his love for instrumental and underground hip hop. After plying and tweaking his trade, he soon gained a following for his seamless mixing and great track selection, and was moved to the prime-time Thursday night slot.
After a short break from the scene to further journey into more genres, and gain a fresh outlook on music, he was introduced to Dubstep and from there and began persuing his music career more seriously and playing more eclectic gigs to a fledging crowd of adoring fans, who were in some way or another being exposed to Binary’s particular flavour of Dubstep.
In January 2008 Binary was part of the the local crew that founded “Step Up” currently the the longest running, ongoing Dubstep party in South Africa. A night that largely due to Binary’s influence blew the lid off this now thriving scene.
Binary’s particular approach to Djing the more moody, left-field sounds of Dubstep soon began to seep into his production style, and he has begun adding his self-produced tracks into the gigs he plays. Binary kicked his commercial production career off with his debut international single released through On A Break Records which came out at the end of 2009 entitled “by and by”
With a slew of DJ sets under his belt, and more releases on On A Break Records, Binary is perfecting and moulding his sound everyday into a well oiled machine.
