The Real Estate Agents have come to rescue Cape Town music from pop mediocrity and bland, radio commercialism. From the good people that brought you such South African delights as Markus Wormstorm and Sibot; sSHADOWORKSs and African Dope Records proudly present the most real music in the leftfield; organic electronic glitch scratch; free music for free minds - The Real Estate Agents!

Born out of the back of the Constructus Corporation, the duo of Sibot & Markus Wormstorm make up the formidable team that is TREA. For those not up to date on the cutting edge of Cape Town music and South African originality, The Real Estate Agents is the dynamic pairing of lab kids on distortion Sibot and Markus Wormstorm.

The mergence of the two Cape Town mix maestros on The Real Estate Agents project has got to be one of the most exciting things to happen in the past decade for electronic music this side left of the mainstream. These two sonic scientists with a fetish for low-fi audio-visual property have both made deeply distinct impressions on the leftfield music
scenes both on Cape Town home soil, all across South Africa and even abroad, where
their disdain for conventional DJ or production laws has led them to be much hailed
and critically acclaimed by the electronic music cognoscenti as more than able contenders in the scratch patch, with a sound that has been compared to a Prefuse 73- Mr.Oizo gang bang!

Live, the dynamic duo own their audience, stepping it up a notch as they re-invent the art of performance with some creative DJing, scratching, sampling, tricky turntablisms and live beat manipulation, Sibot’s un-stable turntable adding weighty counter-balance to Markus’s 808-sequenced funky glitch grooves. Using an array of samplers, laptop computers, feedback units and of course, a stack of vinyl records, rare sounds and often funny jokes, big meaty beats, loops and samples, they hack into your nervous system by way of your feet, rewiring brain by way of Mr. spine. Add some growling slow ‘n phat sub hunting basslines and very odd timing structures and you have the ingredients for an all out freq fest of beat-bop, glitch-hop, drop-top to the cop shop fun.

When the Real Estate Agents’ step-up to bat, it’s a call to the homies, phat ass hiphop honeys, rockers and ravers, lovers and losers to take their place on the dancefloor!
This is one concert you’ll not soon forget!

In the short 3 years of their existence The Agents have managed to shift International headspace and mind frame when it comes to defining what South African music means in this age of digital tech.

The term “dancefloor terrorism” probably sums it up best. Either way it is all a welcome change to the faux hard-core, bling-sing cashing attitude currently undermining urban culture and urban roots music.

Redefining our expectations of South African music, Cape Town music, The Real Estate Agents are sure to be kicking up a storm on a dance floor near you!! Look out for their quirky fun free music video clips and free mp3 downloads as they share their art with their fans.

Initially they used to only be booked at sSHADOWORKSs events because no one else in the industry knew what to do with them! To date the Real Estate Agents have performed at most the major South African live music concerts and music festivals, and several internationally too. Their booking agent fields enquiries from kid’s 18th birthdayparties to major corporate events and awards ceremonies. From the streets to the boardroom, the Real Estate Agents have made ‘abstract glitched out electronic non commercial music’ accessible, continuing the legacy of South African electro pioneers like Krushed & Sorted , paving the way for an entire South African electro-alternative music scene to flourish.

Their first album release came as a triple CD pack entitled simply ‘The Real estate Agents’ and featured separate solo album releases by the two Agents members Sibot & Markus Wormstorm.
It also included a bonus disk containing a live mix from one of their concerts, free music videos and other rare beats ‘n pieces. The incredible packaging was constructed and designed by Conduit and released on African Dope Records.
Their second CD release came off their European tour in 2005 when the Agents recorded a live set at the legendary Fleche’dor boat club in Paris, France. This recorded live set was released as a limited edition mix entitled ‘Pizzas’.
Each copy was numbered and hand-tagged by the Real Estate Agents. The third Real
Estate Agents release has just been recorded at the SayThankYou studios in Cape
Town as of mid-2007.
